Stevie Parker’s Pink and white army cruise to early season friendly win.
-
Summary: 29/04/15 Eclipse CC catch more colds than balls on a chilly April evening at St Fagans, but still manage to limit Cardiff Uni staff to 105 for 7 in their 18 overs. A controlled batting show eases us to victory in just 13.4 overs.
-
Bowling: Dogger leads the Eclipse figures, with 2 overs 1 wicket for 2 runs. Chris Hamblin assists well with 2 overs for 2 runs. Andy Parry and Tim both 2 overs for 6, with a wicket each. All others were gash, going for at least 7 an over, with a smattering of wickets between them. Club funds swelled by fines for drops by Parry, Nash, Condon, Stork, Bonelle (a piss easy one, and no place to hide when wearing a pink cap!), and then Nash again (yes really!). Jamesy bleeds for the cause in the field, and becomes our first blood sub of the season.
-
Batting: Chris H retires after a fine controlled 30 not out. Runs too for Tim (13), Brizer (17), Chris S (8) and Mark (1). Andy P and Luke guide the team home in a stylish flurry of boundaries, with 14 not out each.
-
Other: It all kicks off in the clubhouse after the match (once we’d warmed up a bit), as the savage new fines system kick in. Friendships are forgotten, skeletons are dragged from closets (no Dave, I said skeletons, not Skelator...)Tim shows his mean side, and the daddy and Nasher feel hard done by, despite turning up late and dropping 2 catches respectively (yes, really!).
Champagne moment: Despite bowling well, it’s actually Bri’s 2 sixes mown over cow corner off successive balls that gets the prize. They were as surprising as they were mighty, taking his tally of sixes in the last 8 seasons to 2....
